More than 70 nursing students and educators were recognized for their compassion and commitment—including a lifetime achievement award.
The coveted DAISY Award is a recognition of the compassionate care that nurses provide to patients and their families as well as the dedication of faculty members to instilling empathy and caring in the next generation of the profession.
Adtalem is the No. 1 grantor of nursing degrees in the U.S.
DAISY, which stands for diseases attacking the immune system, was formed by the family of Patrick Barnes to recognize the nursing care that he and his family received during his eight weeks in the hospital before succumbing to Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura.

Lifetime Achievement Award for Dr. Carla Sanderson
Dr. Carla Sanderson, left, received the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award at a College of Nursing dinner during commencement weekend.
Dr. Carla Sanderson began her career as a critical care registered nurse. She then served for more than 40 years in nurse educator leadership culminating in the provost role at Chamberlain University, where she has worked for more than a decade.
